Every sales team has the same dirty secret: pipeline data is fiction.
Reps advance stages to look good for Monday's forecast call. Managers massage probabilities to hit targets. The CRM becomes a performance theater where the map bears no relation to the territory.
A deal that's been at "Negotiation" for six weeks isn't negotiating. It's dead. But nobody moved it because moving it backward looks bad. A deal at "Proposal Sent" with no engagement data isn't sent. It's ignored. But the stage says "sent" because someone clicked a button, and clicking a button is easier than having an honest conversation.
